"Reconstructing East Burnside" -- Portland, Oregon -- Archival Fine Art Print
NOTE: The paper I used for this print is discontinued, so I am low on these prints that were printed on the Japanese off-white Kozo paper, but if you really love this print, I can make it available on standard white archival paper (it looks beautiful too!) Just email me to start the order. The prices will be the same as listed.
I photographed the East Burnside area for a client and it allowed me to take a closer look at this unique microcosm where all types of small businesses and residential buildings coexist. It is in the process of being taken over by development. I decided I wanted to depict a scene of the area where change is occurring so we could see the contrast of the old and the new.
Through this work, I want to raise the issue of balancing new growth with preserving our history, retaining long-term residents, and considering the unique culture of Portland. I walk the streets photographing Portland. Then I combine many photographic elements together. I can envision spatial connections along with location, cultural, and historical synchronicities and see how all these can be connected and juxtaposed in a single, cohesive, and meaningful scene.
The artwork is printed on museum-grade, smooth fine art, Japanese Kozo (mulberry bush fibers), 150 gsm paper. Printed with an Epson SureColor p5000 and 11 UltraChrome HDX Pigment Inks that ensure visibility of the smallest details, and colors that appear as fresh as day one, even after 100 years.
Limited edition artwork has a set number of prints available for each size offered. Once that number of prints has sold, that size will no longer be offered.
Larger custom sizes are available, just message me for availability and a quote.
